Ootd: About A ($6) Dress

One of my favorite pastimes is vintage shopping in a small town, as vintage shopping in the Bay Area can be expensive.

There are numerous stores dedicated to vintage clothing meticulously curated from the estate sales and flea markets between Los Angeles and New York.

This kind of hand selection comes at a cost and while I’ve saved hours buying direct from curated shops (both online and off) nothing beats the feeling of snagging an amazing find on your own.

I had a bit of downtime between skiing and hanging out at the Whitney Peak Hotel , Reno’s only non-smoking, non-gaming boutique hotel (see photos and links below). I went on Yelp and looked up “Best vintage stores in Reno ” and SVdP was at the top of the list and was only 4 blocks away.

I believe in a type of garment karma: that certain pre-owned pieces are destined to find me in their new life.

Like this red dress I found at the St. Vincent De Paul thrift store while on a recent family ski trip to Reno Nevada’s Mount Rose Area.

This delicate and beautiful silk 80s style dress was without a designer label but made in Korea. A steal at $6 bucks. I’d been wanting to experiment with wearing red, a “power color”.

The styling shown below is definitely all business. Paired  with my Acne Studios Moto and Jensen boots and you’ve got instant street cred.
