Top 3 Fall Trends That Are Already in Your Closet

The autumn months always guarantee you’ll be able to pull from the latest trends that are already in your closet. Perhaps this is because Fall is when we head back to our roots and traditions. The time when we harvest pumpkins and gather for a holiday feast also has a way of carrying over into what we wear.

The focus of Fall 2019 runways was on these top 3 trends: Leather Apparel, Python Print, and Crocodile Embossed.

Fall is the optimal time to pull out your best and favorite classics. In today’s post I’m sharing tips for shopping the latest trends that are already in your closet. While it’s easy to turn to fall colors for inspiration, this season is all about rich textures.

Chances are you already have elements of these pieces in your closet. And if you don’t, these pieces can be had for a steal preowned or thrifted.

Fall Trend 1: Leather Apparel- This season’s head to toe leather is all about clean lines and lightweight or even faux fabrics.

The look is soft and buttery, and translates well to everyday wear like blazers, trousers, and button down shirts. If you were smart you resisted the urge to donate those leather trousers or leggings from seasons back. They are back “in”. Or if you’re pulling from the way back machine in your closet here is a handy tip. Take them to a tailor for an update on the hem length or a reduction in the flare/bell bottom if they are too 70’s. Thrift stores are also the place to find high quality leather blazers. Just don’t overlook the men’s section where the best oversized cuts are.

Fall Trend 2: Python Print – Snake print in the wrong fabric can easily read “lounge Lizard” . For an elegant take on this trend avoid heavyweight synthetics and opt for lightweight chiffon blouses in neutral beiges and browns.

If you still want to proceed with caution, head to your favorite thrift shop where you will be sure to find a snakeskin belt. Or if you are bold choose a midiskirt or high heeled boots.
