On Trend : DIY Tibi Inspired Fuzzy Mules

I know what you’re thinking, “Isn’t the feathery, fuzzy, furry shoe trend on its way out?”. My response would be, “I hope not!”.

Some of these fuzzy lovely’s from brands like Tibi and of course Gucci, cost a pretty penny, so it would stink if these were no longer “In” all of a sudden.

As you’ve probably seen on my blog and Instagram, I was one of those who invested in the Gucci fur mules, which you probably know the price tag.

Got sticker shock?  Don’t worry I’ve got you covered (literally in feathers) with a quick DIY I recently completed.

The inspiration was the Tibi Kellen Sandal priced at $395 as well as the character, Animal from Jim Henson’s The Muppets.

This DIY will cost you $3.95 and couple of glue sticks. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

You will need a pair of sandals that you don’t mind converting. Mine are a pair from dB Shoes purchased a few years back that  weren’t getting much wear because I wasn’t really loving the white leather panel.

A feather boa in a color of your choice- comes in 6 ft lengths from Michael’s for $3.99. I actually started the project with a boa purchased at Joann’s fabric but, sold by the yard, it was twice as much as the Michael’s version.

Step 2: Let the Fur Fly & Start Gluing Stuff

Really, there is nothing to this DIY, you just need to start and one end and keep gluing and pressing, being careful not to burn yourself, until the surface that you want to cover is covered. Spot apply more feathers to cover any bald spots or to create more density. Trim the edges if you like.

Step 3: Look Cute

With a shoe like this people are going to look at your feet, so go on and treat yourself to an at home spa pedicure- you worked hard, you deserve one! Last but not least, channel your inner Zsa Zsa Gabor without the New York price tag.
