Everlane $100 Cashmere Crew Product Review

Everlane $100 Cashmere Crew Product Review

Today’s post is a product review of the Everlane $100 Cashmere crewneck sweater.

Cashmere sweaters are one of those basics that never go out of style, but it can be challenging to find a quality one for less than $100. That is, until online e-trailer Everlane changed the game. Since launching it’s online-only business Everlane has kept the price of the cashmere line both reasonable and transparent.

This season’s offering is no different. The Everlane $100 Cashmere Crew costs $42 to manufacture and transport. The balance of the $58 is pure profit. The traditional retail of a comparable cashmere sweater is $210, making the Everlane version one of the best values of the season.

Everlane $100 Cashmere Crew Facts:

This season’s crewneck is constructed from 100% Grade A Mongolian cashmere and is manufactured in China. The knit is very tight and features rib knitting at the neckline, sleeves, and waist band. Although the website describes the fit as “relaxed”, which in Everlanespeak means “size down”, I took my regular size S. If I wanted a more snug fit I think the XS would have worked; the trade off being narrower shoulders and shorter sleeves. I have fairly broad shoulders and very long arms.

I chose the crewneck cut since the round neckline is more flattering on me personally and is a classic cut which never goes out of style. Classic, not to be confused with uptight.

When I compared this season’s cashmere to last years this version has less stretch and seems like it will not be as quick to pill. My other Everlane cashmere has a more “fuzzy” texture as well. However I think this is mostly due to how I care for my cashmere. I skip the dry cleaning and instead machine wash on the hand wash setting and lay flat to dry.  For this season’s cashmere I will opt to dry clean as recommended, or hand wash to keep the weave tight and minimize pilling.

What I like best about the $100 Everlane Cashmere Crew: The texture.

The texture of the season’s cashmere is soft and unrelentingly comfortable. You won’t want anything else next to your skin once you wear the  Everlane $100 Cashmere. When I compared this season’s cashmere to last years this version has less stretch and seems like it will not be as quick to pill. The one thing I would change about the Everlane $100 Cashmere Crew:

One of the things I like best about this sweater is also the one thing I would change…the reinforced sleeve.  The band of reinforcing thread allows you to cuff the sleeve while guarding against wear and tear. This is genius and a sign of quality construction. But for people with longer arms, it creates a visible line on your sleeve. Not a deal breaker and as I write this I think I’ll try wearing the sweater with the sleeves cuffed. Another option is to size up, if you are OK with a more relaxed fit throughout. As I mentioned above, I took my true size and like the slim fit.

Overall, I’m very pleased with the quality and lux feel of the Everlane $100 Cashmere. These have sold out before so I recommend you grab one for yourself and as a gift for a family member, since these never go out of style.

Xoxo,
